More March Browns - in April?! And... OPENING WEEKEND!

Thanks to perfect conditions, it seems that this season's superb March Brown hatches were determined to continue coming off as "April Browns" on the Kings River and other mid-elevation Sierra waters. And we were as delighted as the trout surely were. Truly a dream-come-true for those who savor throwing big meaty #12 dries to voracious attack-trout after the winter months of mostly-nymphing. Oh yeah, and did I mention all those big 2-inch Salmon Flies that were competing with the MBs for the attentions of the fish?! What a spring it has been!

We're sad to say goodbye to those big brown bugs for this season, but Opening Day weekend brought a welcome return of weather so beautiful that we could leave the waders at home and head out for our first small stream, wet-wading for caddis-hungry trout at somewhat higher elevations. And again, perfect conditions, ideal stream flows, crystal clear waters, outstanding scenery and abundant eager 'bows and browns all added up to an opening weekend to remember. No need to wait until the spring run-off subsides. There are countless possibilities for splendid early season small-stream dry fly action! Give us a call at 559-683-7664.
